The Audi R8 4.2 FSI Quattro is a vehicle available in Midnight Club: Los Angeles. It can be obtained by completing all Social Club missions before June 2014. However, since the servers were shut down, it can no longer be obtained.
Description[]
The Audi R8 is a mid-engine, 2-seater sports car, which uses Audi's trademark quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. It was introduced by the German automaker Audi AG in 2006. The car was exclusively designed, developed, and manufactured by Audi AG's high performance private subsidiary company, quattro GmbH, and is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform. The fundamental construction of the R8 is based on the Audi Space Frame, and uses an aluminium monocoque which is built using space frame principles.
The Audi R8 was initially equipped with a 4.2 litre V8 engine. Specifically, it is an all-aluminium alloy 32-valve (four valves per cylinder) petrol engine, utilising Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI), and has a displacement of 4,163 cubic centimetres (254.0 cu in). It develops a motive power output of 420 metric horsepower (309 kW; 414 bhp) (Directive 80/1269/EEC), and generates 430 newton metres (317 lbf·ft) of torque, on 98 RON 'Super Unleaded' petrol. It is basically the same engine used in the Audi B7 RS4, but is modified to use a dry sump lubrication system. This V8 is a highly reworked, high-revving variant of the existing 4.2 litre V8, but includes cylinder-direct fuel injection (Fuel Stratified Injection), and four valves per cylinder, instead of five (as used on the previous non-FSI variants).
Performance[]
The R8 has a lot of grip (even in the rain), as it refuses to drift even with forceful application of the handbrake. In this case it's best to just use the gas and brakes when cornering.
On open freeways, fully upgraded and engaging the NOS in 4th or 5th gear, the R8 can hit speed of over 230 mph, but will quickly go down to 200/210 mph after a shot of NOS boost is depleted (supposedly due to the immense grip and/or downforce generated at such speeds).
When maxed out, the R8 encounters a similar opponent combination to most Exotics that are partly upgraded or a fully upgraded Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 or Ducati 1098R on Medium difficulty.
Prior to an update, the R8's performance was at par with most lower tier Group 4 vehicles, despite having an AWD drivetrain, however, it was buffed in a patch with the release of the South Central DLC. The main reasoning for the buff is due to how overpowered the Sport Bikes were at launch, especially the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 being overused in both single player and online due to how overpowered it was for it's $17,000 value. Following the aforementioned buff, the R8 has the overall best specs of any vehicle in the game when maxed out.
Performance Levels[]
- NOTE: Images have been altered to show all options and prices at both performance levels 1 and 2. Normal interface does not show all options at once. Usually, when option is highlighted, its location is also highlighted on the diagram. E.g. when "Brakes" are selected, "Brakes" option is highlighted and brake locations are shown on diagram.

Acquisition[]
The Audi R8 could be obtained by completing the Social Club Driving Test prior to it's discontinuation in June 2014.
After the said date, any save that did not complete all tests could no longer unlock the R8 for purchase.
The R8, had it been made normally available for purchase, could be bought for $118,000, if bought prior to Payday, after unlocking Group 4 vehicles.

NPC Users[]
Doc's Audi R8[]
Doc drives a completely unmodified Audi R8 as a very common opponent. This R8 commonly spawns in most races, and if the player uses a maxed Exotic, usually spawns along with Lester's Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 and occasionally, Oswaldo's Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14, Leon's Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster or Mikey's Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster or Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder.
Oro's Audi R8[]
Oro drives an orange/red customized Audi R8, equipped with the second front bumper, first hood, second rear bumper, third exhaust, second side skirt and black iForged Classic rims. It's license plate reads "GREATR8". It can be mostly found in races where the player races in a maxed Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG or Saleen S302 Extreme.
Trivia[]
- Before June 10, 2014, this vehicle is available exclusively through Rockstar's Social Club web site. After that day, it is currently impossible to obtain without modifying the save file.
- It is also given to the player for free after beating Booke in Midnight Club: L.A. Remix.
- A completely unmodified Audi R8 can be frequently seen in races when the player drives a maxed Exotic, being driven by Doc.
- Oro owns a red/orange Audi R8.
- Attempting to buy an Audi R8 in Rate My Ride before completing all tests will result in an error message where the player must buy the downloadable content before they can buy the car.
