Cadillac is a division of American automaker General Motors (GM) that appears in Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition and Midnight Club: Los Angeles. Cadillac designs and builds luxury vehicles and has major markets in the United States, Canada and China. In 2019, the brand hit a record sales figure of 390,458 vehicles worldwide.
Cadillac is among the first automobile manufacturers in the world, and the fourth American manufacturer alongside fellow GM brands Oldsmobile (1897) and Buick (1899) and Autocar Company (1897). The brand was named after the founder of Detroit, Michigan: Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac (1658-1730) and the logo's crest is based off Antoine's coat of arms.[1]
Cadillac also has taken part in various motorsports, both before and after World War II. They took part in NASCAR during the 1950s, only to disappear from the series by the 1960s. They also took part in the early years of the American Le Mans series, entering their Le Mans Prototype the Cadillac Northstar LMP from 2000-2002. After being unsuccessful, they withdrew from the American Le Mans Series.
Cadillac's most successful venture in motorsports came from using the CTS-V in the SSCA World Challenge Grand Touring class. They also returned to prototype racing in 2017 with their Cadillac DPi-V.R in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. On January 5, 2023, GM announced they intended to enter Cadillac into Formula One in collaboration with Andretti Global. So far, no further news has surfaced.[2]
