Chevrolet (sometimes called Chevy) is an American high-capacity automobile manufacturer and a division of manufacturer General Motors. It was founded in 1911 by Louis and Arthur Chevrolet, two Swiss-American racers, and GM founder William C. Durant.
Chevrolet is sold most markets worldwide. In Oceania, Chevrolet was represented by Holden Special Vehicles, which returned in 2018 after 50 years with the launch of the Camaro and Silverado (HSV was partially owned by Holden, which GM retired in 2021). Afterwards, GM took over sales and distribution of Chevrolet in Oceania, starting with the Silverado.
In 2005, Chevrolet was relaunched in Europe and they mainly sold vehicles built by GM Daewoo of South Korea. GM intended Chevrolet to become a mainstream brand while it's European brans Opel (Germany) and Vauxhall (UK) would become premium brands. However, GM reversed their in 2013 and withdrew from Europe by 2016, except for the Camaro and Corvette.
Chevrolet was marketed and sold in many Commonwealth states, including Russia. They also took over the Korean company Daewoo after General Motors fully bought out GM Daewoo to create GM Korea.
In North America, Chevrolet produces and sells many vehicles ranging from subcompact cars to medium duty commercial trucks. Due to high popularity and name recognition, Chevrolet is sometimes known as "Chevy" or "Chev"; these names have become a synonym for GM and its products such as the GM LS1 Engine (Chevrolet small-block engine).[1]

Logo History[]
Chevrolet has an iconic logo that has a rich history and is the most recognized internationally. The logo is nicknamed as the "bowtie" and has not changed much throughout Chevrolet's history. It was designed by William Durant in 1913 and there are 3 theories of how he created it.
The 1st theory is that Durant was inspired by the wallpaper of a Parisian hotel he once stayed in. The 2nd theory is that Durant drew the logo during dinner in the family kitchen, according to his daughter. The 3rd theory is that Durant modified an existing logo of "Coalettes", a product made by one of the American coal companies, whose advertising he saw in the newspaper. The Coalettes logo was a slanted bowtie with a bold, graphic look.
The Chevrolet logo sometimes only contains the Chevrolet name, but the majority of their logo designs involve the famous bowtie design. The logo has gone through 16 different designs over the company's history [3]
