Dodge is an American automaker and division of Stellantis North America that appears in Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition and Midnight Club: Los Angeles. Historically, Dodge's vehicles include performance cars and for most of their time, they were Chrysler's mid-priced brand above Plymouth.
History[]
Founded as the Dodge Brothers Company machine shop by brothers Horace and John, they originally supplied parts and assemblies to Detroit-based car companies like Ford. They began building complete cars under the "Dodge Brothers" brand in 1914, before Chrysler Corporation was created. Their factory in Hamtramck, Michigan served as the main Dodge factory from 1910 until its close in January 1980. John Dodge died from the Spanish flu in January 1920, due to lung complications years earlier. Horace Dodge died in December 1920, also most likely due to Spanish flu, but mainly due to liver complications. After their demises, their families sold their company to Dillon, Read & Co. in 1925 before Chrysler bought Dodge in 1928.
Dodge's main vehicles were trucks, full-size passenger cars through the 1970s; they also built compact cars (1963-1976 Dart) and mid-size cars (1965-1978 Charger and "B-Body" Coronet) as well. The 1973 oil embargo caused American "gas-guzzler" sales to drop. This forced Chrysler to develop the Dodge Aries K platform compact and midsize cars for the 1981 model year. The K platform and its derivations were significant in reviving Chrysler's business in the 1980s, an example being the Dodge Caravan. In the 1990's, the Dodge Stratus was very successful with buyers along with the Dodge Intrepid.
Dodge has gone through many ownership changes with Chrysler from 1998-2008. These include the Daimler-Benz AG merger (1998-2007), the sale to Cerberus Capital Management, its 2009 bailout by the US Government, and its Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and buyout by Fiat.
In 2011, Dodge and it's sub-brands RAM and Viper were separated, with "Viper" to become an SRT product and "RAM" to be a standalone brand. However, Dodge re-absorbed SRT in 2014 due to low sales. Later in 2014, Chrysler Group was renamed FCA US LLC (because of the Fiat S.p.A. merger) and "Fiat Chrysler Automobiles" was established. However, in 2021, another merger with FCA and PSA Group (Peugeot Société Anonyme) occurred and Stellantis was born. [1]

Logo History[]
Dodge has had 10 different logo designs over the course of its history, some of which share logos with Chrysler. These logos consist of either just the word "Dodge", a circular badge in the early years, the iconic ram head symbol and its new triangular logo for the Dodge EV. The iconic ram head is said to come from the zodiac sign Aries which, according to corporate legend, was a talisman of the Dodge brothers.[2]

Trivia[]
- Roy, a member of the American Royalty Car Club is presumed to be a big fan of the manufacturer, judging by him driving Dodge cars in his first three encounters and mentioning Mopar, the tuning company, until he gives up on the Chrysler/Mopar family for the U.S. Championship Series.
- This is evident by the plate on his McLaren F1 LM reading "BYEMOPR".
