The Dodge Charger R/T (1969) is a Classic/Muscle Vehicle from Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition.
Description[]
The Charger was introduced in 1966, as an effort by Dodge to give the brand its own 'pony car'. Using Chrysler's proprietary B-body platform, the main goal at hand was to make the Charger a larger, more powerful, more comfortable, and more luxurious car than the average muscle car. To this day, the first generation Chargers have some of the most intricate and beautifully upholstered interiors ever made, and the immensely powerful HEMI underneath the hood only strengthened its case.
The 1969 Charger is the 2nd generation of the Charger, and strangely, the Charger R/T seen in-game does not have the 7 liter HEMI engine. As indicated by the '440' printed on the hood, it instead uses a 7.2 liter 440ci engine Dodge offered at the time.
The 440 Magnum, often called the "440 six-pack" in reference to the 3×2-barrel carburetors placed in later versions of the engine, gave the Charger serious acceleration, but unlike the HEMI, it also provided serious reliability to match.
The 440 originally had a single 4-barrel carburetor, but in 1969, the "Six Pack" was introduced. and its 6-barrel layout boosted the power output of the 7.2L 440 Magnum from 375hp to 390hp. While slightly less powerful than a HEMI, Dodge wasted no time letting the public know that it is very well the next best thing.
In many ways, Dodge was right. The 440 was not only cheaper and more reliable than a HEMI, but it proved to be quicker than the HEMI between traffic lights, as it reached peak torque faster.
Performance[]
Acceleration is a sore spot due to its very long 4th gear. Top speed is competitive as it can reach 200mph with enough road, but it has trouble getting there in traffic and without nitrous.
Handling is also poor, and it has very lazy steering, making the Charger difficult to recover when spinning out. Once the car is spun, that's the way it's going. It can't be saved.
Manual shifting can mitigate some of its weaknesses, although high speed oversteer is a very real threat compared to other muscle cars, which usually are more forgiving about letting the player drift around.

Acquisition[]
The Dodge Charger R/T (1969) can be unlocked after winning 11 races in San Diego, it's also not a bad choice for a Class C Muscle Car, and it costs $200 more compared to Chevrolet El Camino, making it the third cheapest car in the Class C category, while on the REMIX Edition, it is the fifth.
Racers[]
The Dodge Charger R/T (1969) is used by Roy in-game.
Trivia[]
- In the Manufacturer vinyls section, the classic '00' decal from the television show 'The Dukes of Hazzard' can be found. This is of course an intentional reference by Rockstar.
- Parts from the 1969 Charger Daytona (an aerodynamic homologation version of the 69 Charger) are available in the parts shop and can be installed, such as the very large rear wing, dual fender scoops, and nose cone.
- The classic 'nose cone' front bumper can be installed, but it is from the Plymouth Superbird. The Dodge Charger Daytona's nose cone is not actually present in the game and has a different design.
- The only remaining part from the 1969 Charger Daytona that can't be installed is the rear window piece, designed to improve airflow over the rear glass while cornering.
- A black 1969 Dodge Charger driven by an NPC driver named Matt is referring to Dominic Toretto's Dodge Charger from the Fast and Furious franchise, Matt's charger is modified in Dragster style, similar to Dom's and has "DOMINIC" name on his number plate.
