The Downtown Tournament is a tournament in Midnight Club: Los Angeles. The tournament is opened at a certain rank level, presumably some time after the player unlocks Group 3 Vehicles.

After around a point the player unlocks Group 4 vehicles and had previously won the original Downtown Tournament, the player will be invited again to a DUB-sponsored version of the tournament, rewarding the player with the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster DUB Edition upon victory on Hard difficulty.

Summary

At some time the player unlocks group 3 vehicles, Booke calls the player to inform him that a tournament is being staged in Downtown, with Dora driving her Volkswagen Golf R32 (Mark V) around Downtown. The player must flash their lights in front of Dora to enter the tournament, a prompt appears to show the difficulty and reward of the tournament.

In the first run, the player races the tournament on Medium difficulty, with the first race taking place in Civic Center Race, followed by Downtown Freeway Loop and Crossblocks being the final race. The player must earn the most points to win the tournament.

After a certain mid-game point in the game, Booke calls the player to inform him that DUB is sponsoring a tournament, with the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster DUB Edition as the prize for the winner. The player must win the tournament against hard opposition.

Strategy

The Downtown DUB Tournament is ran on Hard difficulty, therefore, the routes have less checkpoints and opposition drives faster vehicles.

Despite some users purchasing any of the Sport Bikes in desperation to win the tournament, some recommended strategies include using a Nissan 240SX with just level 2 nitrous, leaving every other performance part stock, causing opponents to primarily drive Group 2 cars, with occasional spawns of Land Rover Range Rover Sport, Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged or Chrysler 300C SRT-8 due to their heavier weight.

As the reward of the tournament is the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster DUB Edition, the vehicle already comes with level 1 upgrades. It is highly recommended to use the said prize supercar for the remainder of the game, only having to install level 2 upgrades once they unlock for Group 4 vehicles at Hero rank (26,160 Reputation).

Trivia

• It is possible to obtain the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster DUB Edition prior to unlocking Group 4 vehicles, if they open the tournament beforehand.
  • However, further copies of the car cannot be purchased until Group 4 vehicles are unlocked, despite the vehicle being displayed as unlocked, it will inform the player the vehicle group is locked.
