The Ducati 1098R is a sport bike produced by Ducati from 2007 to 2009. Designed by Gianandrea Fabbro, the 1098R replaced the older 999 and featured various design elements taken from older Ducati sport bikes, such as the 916 and 998, such as a single-sided swingarm and a non-integrated exhaust system. Powered by a 1198cc L-twin cylinder desmodromic engine, the 1098R made 180 hp and had 99.1 lb⋅ft of torque, making the 1098R have the highest torque-to-weight ratio for a bike at the time of release. 1,375 were produced according to numbers provided by the Ducati factory.

It appears in Midnight Club: Los Angeles as part of the South Central Vehicle Pack 2.

The Ducati 1098 is a sports bike made by Ducati from 2007 to 2009, in three versions, the 1098, 1098S, and 1098R. The 1098 was succeeded by the 1198 in 2009, though the 1098R remained in production that year. The 1098 shares more design  elements with the older 998 than with its predecessor the 999, such as horizontally placed headlights and a non-integrated exhaust system. Another carryover from its 916/998 heritage is the single-sided swingarm. This return to a more traditional Ducati design has been welcomed by many Ducati fans who criticized the design of the 999.

The Ducati 1098/1098 S/1098 R were available in black, red, yellow and a special edition 1098s in the Italian national flag colours of red, white and green called Tricolore. The 1098 was designed by Ducati designer, Giandrea Fabbro. The 1098/1098 S makes a manufacturer claimed 160 hp (119 kW), 90.4 lb·ft (122.6 N·m) torque, and weighs 173 kg (380 lb). The 0-60 mph time is less than 3.0 seconds and top speed is estimated at 180 mph (290 km/h). The 1098 R makes a manufacturer claimed 180 hp (134 kW), 98.8 lb·ft (134.0 N·m) torque. All these figures give the 1098 the highest torque-to-weight ratio of any production sport bike ever made.

Performance[]

The 1098R is the fastest sport bike in the entire game, outclassing the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 performance-wise, with a very high top speed (albeit lower than most of the higher-end Exotic cars), exceptional acceleration and super-sharp handling. Despite this, the aforementioned Kawasaki has higher handling stats (though the Audi R8 4.2 FSi Quattro and Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster outperform both bikes outside of their acceleration).

The Ducati 1098 R is notoriously overpowered for it's very low cost of $15,000. It has very high acceleration, sharp handling, and can weave through traffic, especially when compared to the more expensive and high-end exotics such as the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster and Saleen S7 Twin Turbo, especially with all level 2 upgrades, which was done to compensate for it's major weaknesses, such as taking damage a lot faster and easier, being very easy to fall off and taking longer to reset after a crash.

Due to it's extremely low cost, and overpowered stats, some users may use the 1098R for the rest of the game, provided they can handle it better than other cars, however, it comes at a major cost of being easily damaged out faster, and taking longer to reset after crashes.

The 1098 R is also a good vehicle to use for Goal Attacks due to it's higher stats, provided the player can be careful not to damage the bike more than 25% as it's lighter weight makes it easier to rack up damage.

The 1098R tops out at 235 mph (378 km/h) maxed without using nitrous, or 262 mph (422 km/h), which makes it have the second-fastest top speed in the game, second only to the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster which tops out at 265 mph (426 km/h) with continuous nitrous. However, unlike the Murciélago, the 1098R, being a sports bike, does not depend on tire dimensions for maximum nitro speed.

Stats[]

Despite the garage suggesting higher top speed and handling stats, the 1098R has the fastest acceleration and can turn sharper at high speeds, due to how lighter it is compared to the exotic cars, the handling and acceleration were merely to trade-off for the lower damage tolerance it has, the risks of falling off every crash, and taking several seconds to recover from despawns.

Although the garage suggests a maxed 1098R has the same acceleration and top speed as the maxed out Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14, the 1098R actually accelerates faster than the said bike.

A maxed 1098R tops out at 236 mph (380 km/h) without any usage of Nitrous, though the 1098R can reportedly exceed 260 MPH with continuous nitrous.

Usage[]

Due to the sports bikes higher performance which was merely a trade-off for their very low durability, many users can tend to purchase the 1098R or the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 once they find it too difficult to win races in a car.

Once the player knows how to handle Sport Bikes properly, they can easily win almost every race, with them having to carefully avoid crashing the bikes, which knocks the player off the bike, taking at least 5 seconds to recover from a crash.

However, the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster's DUB Edition may be a preferred choice due to it's all-around stats without the higher risks, as the DUB Edition can be obtained from winning the Downtown DUB Tournament.

Also, the player may have to use the bike to win 35 races with it due to being required to challenge the Motorcycle Champ, Oswaldo. The player is only required to win 35 races with sport bikes and defeat Oswaldo after becoming City Champ.
