Paris is a city featured in Midnight Club II. The capital of France, it serves as the second city the player visits in career mode.
Description[]
The in-game rendition of Paris is a compressed interpretation of its real-life counterpart. The River Seine cuts horizontally through the middle of the city, dividing it into two distinct areas; the Rive Gauche on the southern bank of the river and the Rive Droite in the north. Two islands sit in the middle of the river; the larger Île de la Cité, featuring the famous cathedral of Notre-Dame in the east, and the smaller Île aux Cygnes in the west. Several road bridges cross the Seine, providing access to either side of the river. A circular highway, known as the Boulevard Périphérique, loops around the edge of the city and is the furthest the player can travel from the centre.
Most of the map's playable area is on the northern bank of the river, and features a greater variance in elevation with the presence of the hilly Montmartre district in the north, with the famous Sacré-Cœur basilica standing atop the highest hill. Several famous landmarks, such as the Musée du Louvre and Arc de Triomphe can be found near the middle of the map. To the east, the Place de la Bastille (along with its opera house) and the Centre Pompidou can be found, while in the west the Palais de Chaillot sits opposite the river.
The southern bank of the river features the iconic Eiffel Tower, along with several narrow pedestrianised streets and plazas. Paris also introduces the catacombs and several maintenance tunnels, serving as an alternative means to quickly travel around the city underground. Entrances to the catacombs can be found marked with signs, and all of the tunnels end up exiting by the glass pyramid at the Louvre.
