General Motors (officially General Motors Company) is an American multinational automotive manufacturer that appears in Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition and Midnight Club: Los Angeles through its divisions: Buick,Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Hummer, and Pontiac. It was the largest automotive manufacturer in the United States in 2022 in sales, and was the world's largest auto manufacturer for 77 years before losing the spot to Toyota in 2008.
General Motors has factories located in eight different countries and has four core brands: Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC. The Hummer and Pontiac brands have been defunct since the late 2000s, around the time of the 2007-2008 global financial crisis. However, Hummer has made a return as a "nameplate" brand for one of GMC's electric vehicles. General Motors also hold interests in the Chinese brands Baojun and Wuling via SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile.
General Motors also owns the following companies:
- BrightDrop (Delivery vehicles)
- GM Defense (Military vehicles for US military and government)
- OnStar (Vehicle safety, security and information services)
- ACDelco (auto parts company)
- GM Finance (financial lending service)
- Cruise LLC (self-driving cars)
In January 2021, the company announced plans to end producing and selling vehicles with internal combustion engines, hybrid vehicles and plug-in hybrids by 2035. They want to achieve "carbon neutrality" by 2040. General Motors offers more "flexible-fuel cars" than any other company; cars that can work on either E85 ethanol fuel, gasoline, or a blend of both.[1]

Logo History[]
General Motors has mostly retained the same logo design for most of its history, making minor tweaks along the way, however its latest logo is a moderate redesign of the last design (2010-2021) to show the company's transition to the electric vehicles market. The emblem, unlike previous designs, uses the lowercase "GM" letters drawn on a plain white background enclosed into a thick square frame with round edges. The "M" is underlined which in a way is supposed to look like an electric plug.
General Motors' first logo was not really a logo but their certificate of incorporation which was used on all their documents for the first 30 years. The next logo closely resembled the modern GM logo, where the top section is GM lettering against a black background, and the bottom section is the "General Motors" inscription against a white background. Afterwards, most of the logos incorporated only the letters "GM" underlined against a blue background. [2]
