Midnight Club Wiki

Land Rover is a British automotive manufacturer that appears in Midnight Club: Los Angeles. The company primarily produces four-wheel drive, off-road capable vehicles and are owned by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR)[1], a subsidiary of Indian automaker Tata Motors. JLR currently produces Land Rover cars in Brazil, China, India, Slovakia and the United Kingdom. The Land Rover marque was created in 1948 by the Rover Company for a practical 4WD off-road vehicle. Currently, Land Rover's range consists only of upmarket and luxury SUVs.

Land Rover was granted a Royal Warrant by King George VI, meaning they sold and produced vehicles for the British Royal Family. In 2001, they received the Queen's Award for Enterprise for "outstanding contribution for international trade." Over time, Land Rover would grow into its own brand (and for a while, its own company). They started with the upmarket 1970 Range Rover, the mid-range Discovery and entry-level Freeland lines (in 1989 and 1997), as well as the 1990 Land Rover Defender refresh. The brand today includes two models of the Discovery, 4 distinct versions of the Range Rover and, after 3 years, a 2nd generation of Defenders went into production for the 2020 model year, both in Short and Long Wheelbases.

For 50 years (1948-1997), Land Rovers and Range Rovers relied exclusively on their trademarked "boxed section" vehicle frame. They used boxed frames on their cars until the original Defender was terminated in 2016, their last body-on-frame model was replaced by monocoque chassis with the 3rd generation Discovery in 2017. Since then, all Land Rovers and Range Rovers have a "unified body and frame" structure.

Since 2010, Land Rover has also introduced two-wheel drive variants, both for the Freelander and Evoque, after only building 4WD vehicles for 62 years. The 2WD Freelander has been succeeded by a 2WD Discovery Sport, available in some markets.[2]

Logo History[]

The Land Rover logo has gone through 8 different designs throughout its history. The first logo was an gray oval emblem with a silver outline and italicized lettering. The signature "Z" connection between the words "Land" and "Rover" is still used up to the current logo. On the first logo, the origin of the brand is mentioned via the words "Solihull Warwickshire" and "England." The next logo removed the origin location, the Z connection, and changed the oval to a rectangular emblem. The 3rd logo onwards utilized an oval emblem, with the "Land Rover" wordmark and the "Z" connection but with sections removed. The "Z" now looks like two small arrows pointing left and right.

The palette of the logo from the 3rd iteration onwards has changed over time. The 3rd logo used yellow lettering/outlines with a brown background. The 4th logo made the yellow much more pale and the background green. The 5th logo changed the outline/lettering color to white and the 6th logo almost reverted that change by adding hints of yellow back into the logo. The 7th logo opted for more of a monochrome look, using black lettering/outlines and a white background. The final logo uses the letters "J", "L" and "R" to symbolize the partnership between Jaguar and Land Rover.[3]
