This guide provides a walkthrough on how the player should progress through the third part of Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, which takes place in Detroit, Michigan.

Entering Detroit[]

Bad Boyz Tournament loading screen

When you enter Detroit via a City Movers or having selected it from the Career Menu, you will be spawned near Vince's Garage (in the REMIX version of the game) and a cutscene will be triggered to introduce the player to Vince. After this, the Bad Boyz Tournament will begin accepting entries, rewarding the winner with a 1949 Chevrolet Fleetline. The prize is pretty disappointing, as you earn a Class C muscle car that you encountered opponents driving back late in San Diego, at a point where Class B vehicles are unlocked along with their level 1 upgrades, as well as the other Class C Muscle Cars are better than this prize.

Tournament Prize

Be careful when taking on this tournament in the REMIX version of the game, as there are possible chances opponents will drive the Lamborghini Diablo VT, the first time you will ever encounter a Class A vehicle as an opponent, yet it is a low-end one, although you may still face most high-end Class B vehicles if you do it early. If you are up against multiple Diablos, the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34) from the Unbeatable Street Racers club races will help you out on this.

It is highly recommended to take part in the tournament and sell the prize for $34,000 as it would not bear any use in the main Career Mode, and with the cash needed to buy the McLaren F1 LM once unlocked.

Before taking part in any of the Detroit races, it is highly recommended to have any of the cars listed below for the part of the city while the Exotics aren't available yet:

Recommended vehicles[]

In a regular playthrough, the player has just unlocked level 2 upgrades for Class C vehicles and level 1 upgrades for Class B vehicles.

Best option
MC3 Skyline GT-R Front

The best overall option for the Detroit portion of the career mode is the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34), being the prize for the Unbeatable Street Racers club races, which is among the best choices for most of Detroit. Despite being listed as a Class C Tuner, it is considered more of a Class B tuner due to being more expensive to upgrade ($67,770 if Level 3 Tires are unlocked; otherwise; $63,450 with level 2 tires), plus it's fully upgraded performance being nearer to the other fully upgraded Class B tuners, despite the stats underestimating it. There is also one other vehicle that is listed as a Class B tuner, but is nowhere near the other Class B Tuners and more at par with the lower-end Class C vehicles, even maxed, it gets the same opposition as most maxed D-Class cars. and uses the wrong set of body parts due to sharing the body platform with two other instant classics.

Alternate Options

If one would like an alternate option, these would be alternates to the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34) as they are unlocked during Atlanta. However, a maxed out Class C Tuner is a better option, owing to it's cheaper price-to-upgrade cost ratio, therefore it isn't recommended to buy any of them as the player will not only have to pay for their steep price tag, but also for their level 1 upgrades, which are just as good as fully upgraded Class C Tuners, instead completing the Unbeatable Street Racers Club Races with a level 2 Class C Tuner for the Skyline.

Stats displayed below are with level 1 upgrades.

Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C5)
MC3 Corvette Z06 Front

The Corvette costs $51,925 to purchase, plus $12,365 for level 1 upgrades, for a total of $64,290, The stats are lower than most Level 2 Class C Tuners.

Even though you may have won the Ducati SS1000 from the Hotlanta Tournament back in Atlanta, which was offered as a tournament prize to start in the Original Riders club races, the Class B Sport Bike isn't a recommended option for most races where cars are permitted due to it's Class D Nitrous capacity (which makes it only have one nitro with level 1 upgrades), as well as the danger of losing at least 5 seconds every crash, unless you are a skilled biker and prefer riding sport bikes, therefore, it is highly recommended to upgrade a Class C tuner and use it to win the Skyline, then using it to clear Detroit.

Afterwards, if you decide to use the Skyline, upgrade it to the max for it's very high cost of more than $67,770 (if level 3 tires are unlocked for Class C vehicles), or $63,450 with level 2 tires.

Racers Round 1[]

As you enter Detroit, the opposition will slowly begin to climb. Initially, this is the first time opponents can drive a Class A vehicle, that being the Lamborghini Diablo VT, along with the Class B Sport Bikes or Choppers, though Class B vehicles that match the hookman's vehicle may also spawn in their races.

If you have finished the Unbeatable Street Racers, a fully tuned Skyline will have no problem beating the racers below. You will unlock level 3 tires for Class C vehicles after 4 races. Immediately install it to the Skyline right away.

After roughly 1 or 2 Detroit racers, opponents will also spawn in Cadillac Cien, Gemballa Turbo Coupe or Gemballa F355s, which are common opponents for the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34). Sometimes, you may start to encounter Lamborghini Gallardo Coupe or Saleen S7 (naturally aspirated) opponents as well (which are typical foes for fully upgraded Class B Sport Bikes/Choppers and the Dodge Viper GTS-R Concept).

Roy (third encounter)[]

Haven't we beat him before? Yes, two times, and yet again, he's back in Detroit, this time, now in a Dodge Viper GTS-R Concept, and he's angry about the last couple of times you beat him. Beating him will unlock a new set of car rims.

Unfortunately, despite his extreme motivation, he falls once again, and is extremely angered with his third loss. If you also have beaten Kioshi, Angel will also begin looking for challengers.

Spider[]

This guy's a member of the Chopper of America Bike Club, riding a Hotmatch D'Elegance. Beat this guy to progress further in Detroit. You will unlock new Chopper rims and the ability to use Spider as a motorcycle rider.

Following his loss, Kioshi will begin looking for a challenger.

Leo[]

A member of the American Royalty Car Club who drives a 1981 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. He likes to be aggressive with it, and will have no chance against any tuner car. Highly recommended to use a fully upgraded Skyline to stand a chance.

Following his loss, the rich man Ceasar will begin to find challengers.

Second Round of Detroit Racers[]

Uh oh! The opposition has began to evolve further, while you start encountering Lamborghini Gallardo Coupe, Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and Saleen S7 (naturally aspirated) opponents late into the third racer, you will start encountering Lamborghini Murciélago VT, McLaren F1 LM or Pagani Zonda C-12 S opponents if you have beaten four racers in the city, as well as increasing the frequency of S7 opponents, which can make it quite difficult if Class A vehicles or level 2 upgrades for Class B vehicles aren't unlocked, unless you are in a fully upgraded Skyline, whose fully upgraded self performs better than any level 1, Class B vehicle.

Therefore, at this point, make sure you continue with the Skyline if any of the Exotics aren't unlocked yet, or the Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG if you won it from it's tournament, though if you ignored the Luxury Rollers Car Club, the SL55 will not have the Zone ability, but as the prize for the said club isn't a recommended vehicle in this portion of the career, and payouts for clubs depend on player's career progression, it would be advised to continue with the Skyline, in order to save the money for the McLaren F1 LM.

During the 4th and 5th racer, you will unlock level 2 upgrades for Class B vehicles and Class A vehicles, and if the City Tournament (Detroit) was not yet done, will unlock level 3 tires for Class B vehicles and level 1 performance parts for Class A vehicles.

Ceasar[]

After defeating Leo, some ultra-rich exotic mogul named Ceasar challenges you to a 3 race series.

He drives a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, a mid-end Class A exotic. Beat him and the By Invitation Only, a car club specializing on Exotics will invite you. A tournament will also open to help you get started in the club races, though it will cause delays in unlocking Class A stuff if won early.

Kioshi[]

An ultra-fast sports bike rider from the Original Riders bike club, who rides the Aprilia RSV Mille 1000R Factory, one of the fastest Sport Bikes in the game, Be careful as she rides like it's 1pm on a Sunday afternoon on a Suburban Street.

Despite opponents now being able to drive the Pagani Zonda C-12 S, McLaren F1 LM or Lamborghini Murciélago VT, these high-end opponents can still be handled by the Skyline.

Penultimate Finale[]

Now we are about to hit the endpoint of the main career, with two rivals left to face. Assuming you beat Kioshi as the fifth racer, there will be two rivals remaining, although as the Detroit rivals can be done in a non-fixed order, the sixth rival can also be either Roy's third encounter or Ceasar's initial encounter, with the final rival having to be Angel or Ceasar's second encounter, however, most players would usually have Ceasar's rematch and Angel's initial encounter being the final two rivals of Detroit.

At this point, you will likely have unlocked Class A vehicles for purchase, along with all upgrades for Class B vehicles, and possibly unlocked level 1 performance parts for Class A vehicles (unless the City Tournament (Detroit) was done beforehand that postpones unlocks for Class A components), and might potentially unlock Level 2 parts for Class A vehicles upon beating one rival, if the said tournament was skipped before the upgrades are made available.

Angel[]

Angel, a member of By Invitation Only, will challenge you in his Saleen S7, and appears after the player defeated Kioshi and Roy's third encounter. He may be one of the two challengers that can be the final challenger of Detroit, though the earliest the player can face him is the 4th Challenger.

Ceasar (2nd Encounter)[]

The ultra-rich exotic mogul who you previously defeated is back! He wants another shot at beating you. This time, he drives a Lamborghini Gallardo Coupe.

Beating both racers above will proceed further to the final chapter of the main story, the U.S. Championship Series. Also, you will unlock the Detroit police variant of the Chevrolet Impala SS (Gen.7), as well as new car rims (one set for each racer listed above). You will likely have unlocked level 2 upgrades for Class A vehicles, which increases your Exotic car's Nitrous tanks to 4 if you did not yet win the Cien tournament beforehand.

Class A vehicles[]

At some point during the midway of Detroit, you will unlock the following Class A vehicles for purchase.

Recommended choice

F1LM-MC3-front

The 1995 McLaren F1 LM is the best choice of all purchasable Class A vehicles, owing to only costing $250,000, as well as boasting insane stats, including the fastest acceleration of all vehicles in the game at 99.9. Beware of it's light weight as it can spin out when hitting oncoming traffic at high speeds.

In order to easily afford the F1 LM, it is highly recommended to sell off certain vehicles, with the club starters such as the Cadillac Escalade EXT (DUB Edition) ($65,832), Hotmatch Cuevito ($52,000), Chrysler 300C (DUB Edition) ($48,116) and Chevrolet Bel Air ($29,600) being prime choices. The Chevrolet Fleetline, which fetches $34,000, is another good vehicle to sell.

If the player is having trouble driving this car, even after obtaining the Zone special ability at 3 By Invitation Only races, it is highly recommended to use this car solely for completing the said club for the Chrysler ME Four-Twelve, one of the two vehicles with the highest top speed in the game.

Tournaments[]

Have we forgotten to participate in two more tournaments, well, here they are. The difficulty of the tournaments varies depending on how many racers in Detroit have been beaten. However, winning the second tournament before unlocking Level 2 Upgrades for Class A vehicles can cause delays on unlocking Class A assets.

San Diego DUB Tournament[]

The loading screen

The San Diego DUB Tournament loading screen

After having successfully dealt with Leo, we are informed that DUB is sponsoring a tournament in San Diego, where the winner will be awarded a DUBbed out Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG.

Beware if you face this tournament later, opponents may drive the Lamborghini Murciélago VT, Saleen S7 (naturally aspirated), McLaren F1 LM or Pagani Zonda C-12 S, though if you go further, Chrysler ME Four-Twelve or Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR opponents will also spawn in this tournament.

This car is the fastest Luxury car in the game. However, be careful, as the damage on it can rack up a little faster. Use this prize later to complete the Luxury Rollers Car Club races, though wait until after the U.S. Championship Series to be able to earn more cash from the club races, as the Mercedes-Benz CL 55 may be inferior to the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34) or the SL55.

City Tournament (Detroit)[]

The loading screen

The City Tournament loading screen

An Autocross Tournament that rewards a Cadillac Cien to start in the By Invitation Only Club Races. Be careful if you do this tournament before unlocking Level 2 Performance Parts for Class A vehicles, you will likely face delay in unlocking the said components, which the worst-case scenario has Level 1 Performance Parts unlocked at the end of the main Detroit campaign instead, with level 2 being delayed to 5 U.S. Championship Series races in Detroit (doing the races in San Diego and Atlanta do not count).

You can then use the Cien to do the By Invitation Only club races, or it's associated Tokyo tournament, if you need an exotic that can grind the club races before unlocking Class A vehicles, or if you do the tournament after already having owned an Exotic, can be sold for $108,000 to either cover the cost of more expensive vehicles.
