Midnight Club Wiki

This guide provides a walkthrough on how the player should progress through the Tokyo Challenge portion of Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition REMIX.

To open all tournaments, the player must win 34 purple-marked city races in the city. The By Invitation Only Tournament is the only tournament initially opened, though the player can still play 6 of the 11 tournaments without any Career Mode progress.

Although the mode can be played at any time in their Career Mode, even without starting it in the first place, the player has to already have won the City Tournament (Detroit) (Cadillac Cien), Original Riders club races (Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R) or unlocked Class A vehicles to be able to finish the Tokyo Challenge.

By Invitation Only Tournament[]

Upon starting Tokyo, the By Invitation Only Exotic car club has taken their talents all the way from the States to the land of the rising sun.

Although the tournament is already open as soon as you start the Tokyo Challenge mode, you cannot technically enter the tournament until you win the Cadillac Cien from the City Tournament (Detroit) or unlock Class A vehicles for purchase.

The club has a 1998 Gemballa F355, a tuned up variant of the Ferrari car of the same name, up for grabs, with the car being given to the winner , along with $25,000.

The tournament consists of 5 races. Bring the fastest exotic you have to breeze this tournament.

You can also do this tournament with the Cadillac Cien right after winning it's tournament, if you want to help with doing the Tokyo City Races for the Imperial Palace Tournament if you are grinding for the Pagani Zonda C-12 S, or the club's associated club races in the US cities, if you are grinding for the Chrysler ME Four-Twelve.

Ginza Tournament[]

After three Tokyo City Races, DUB Magazine has organized a private tournament.

DUB has provided a DUBbed out 2005 Dodge Magnum R/T (LX) for the winner, along with $2,500. This can also serve as a substitute starter car for the early part of Career Mode.

The tournament consists of 4 races, and only accepts Class D cars. In order to stand a chance, you need to have a good Class D car, such as the Lexus IS300 or Cadillac CTS-V. You may face C-Class Choppers or B-Class Tuners if you have a high-powered Class D car.

You can also do this tournament early to be able to get a head-start in the main US Career Mode, since the Tokyo Challenge can be accessed anytime, even before starting the Career Mode.

If one were to use this tournament for a head start, they can sell their starter car and use the funds to upgrade the Magnum R/T. They can also use this in place of the Chrysler 300C's Balboa Park Tournament, since they are very similar vehicles, with the Magnum R/T being a re-badged station wagon variant of the 300C, both being made by Chrysler and running a 5.7L HEMI V8.

Wharf Tournament[]

After six Tokyo City Races, DUB Magazine has organized another private tournament. This time, the tournament takes place across the Wharf and permits entry to anyone driving a Class B vehicle.

DUB has sponsored a DUBbed out 2006 Dodge Charger SRT-8 (LX) for the winner, along with $9,000.

Despite being dubbed a new-world muscle car, it is placed into the Tuner class in Class B, uses the Luxury Sedans body part set due to it's body platform, costs cheaper to upgrade compared to other Class B cars, has slower opposition that typically give out Class C Choppers or Class B Tuners even when maxed out, still being outperformed by the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34), which is more of a high-end Class B tuner as it's upgrades cost significantly higher than Class B tuners and has more advanced opposition.

The tournament consists of 3 races, restricted solely to Class B vehicles. The Lotus Esprit, Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG, Dodge Viper GTS-R and Saleen SR easily stand a chance of winning this tournament, though opponents will typically drive the lower-end exotics such as the Lamborghini Diablo VT, Cadillac Cien, Gemballa Turbo Coupe or Gemballa F355.

Since it is a Class-restricted tournament, it can be accessed as early as in Atlanta, when you win the Ducati SS1000 from the Hotlanta Tournament. Be careful, when you use the SS1000 before any Class B upgrades unlocked, that it is a motorcycle, which means it has no nitrous as two-wheeled vehicles are limited to the D-Class nitro capacity, and it takes longer to recover from crashes, since you have no nitrous to cover the lost time.

Unbeatable Street Racers Tournament[]

After eight Tokyo City Races, the Unbeatable Street Racers have decided to take their talents to Tokyo, the native hometown of most of their cars. Despite also being in the Tuner Class, every Class B Tuner and the Lotus Elise 111R acts more like an Exotic due to only having rims/tires as their lone body option.

The club has a Chevrolet Cobalt SS up for grabs, along with $3,500.

Since only Tuner Class vehicles are allowed in this tournament, the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34) is the best choice for the tournament, proving that $67,770 for maxing it out is worth the value, along with it's large amount of visual customization. even more than the Class B Tuners.

The tournament consists of 4 races, restricted solely to Tuner cars. Use your Skyline to easily win the tournament.

Chopper of America Bike Club Tournament[]

After thirteen Tokyo City Races, the Chopper of America Bike Club has arrived in Tokyo.

The club has a Hotmatch Chingon up for grabs, along with $5,000. Since Choppers are only available in Class C and B, the tournament can be played as early as after defeating Phil or unlocking Class C vehicles.

If you don't want the Chingon, especially due to it's high worth value of $113,000, you can sell the Chingon or fill the garage, in which, if you own 30 vehicles (including duplicate versions), you will get the vehicle's full purchase cost instead of the 80% sale value of the vehicle.

Use any B-Class Chopper to take down this tournament, especially with the Roar special ability.

Asakusa Tournament[]

After sixteen Tokyo City Races, a private tournament is established in Tokyo, restricted to Class C vehicles.

The organizers have put a Nissan Sport Concept up for grabs, along with $5,500. The player is restricted to driving Class C vehicles, but despite that, opponents will bring out the slowest exotic cars, namely the Cadillac Cien, Lamborghini Diablo VT, Gemballa Turbo Coupe and Gemballa F355, since those exotics are the typical opponents for the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34), which proves it's $67,770 upgrade cost is worth it.

Despite this, while the Skyline is the recommended vehicle for this and the Unbeatable Street Racers tournament, using other Class C vehicles may make opponents spawn in slower vehicles, though the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII and Toyota Supra Turbo (A80) will also have a chance to spawn the low-end exotics.

American Royalty Car Club Tournament[]

After the 20th Tokyo race, the American Royalty Car Club will arrive in Tokyo, offering a 1966 Cadillac Coupe de Ville, which is one of the cover cars of Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition REMIX as the prize for the winner.

If you are already done with the main career mode, use any of the Class B muscle cars, and Roar out your opponents for a very easy win, especially the 1981 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 offers the most grip for the classic muscle cars.

Luxury Rollers Tournament[]

After 22 races, the Luxury Rollers Car Club will arrive in Tokyo, offering you the Infiniti G35 (V35), which is also known as the Nissan Skyline 350GT in this city as the reward for winning the tournament, which is one of the fastest Class D vehicles in the game, along with the Lexus IS300 and Cadillac CTS-V.

With the Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG, this should be no problem, provided you don't overdamage it too much to lose Sport Bike/Chopper-crash worth of seconds for every damage out you do so, though this tournament, along with the Wharf Tournament earlier are the only tournaments where the said Mercedes, along with the Cadillac Sixteen that you earn for completing Career Mode is worth using, though the Sixteen suffers from it's expensive upgrade costs, and sub-par opposition choices.

Big Playas Tournament[]

After 27 City Races, the Big Playas will head to Tokyo, offering the Hummer H3T Concept truck as the prize for winning the tournament.

Use any of the Class B SUV/Trucks, especially the Gemballa GT 750 being the best option, provided you bought it previously to do all Big Playas club races back in the States for an easy win.

Original Riders Tournament[]

After winning 31 city races, the Original Riders will organize a tournament in Tokyo, awarding the Ducati Paul Smart 1000 to whoever wins the tournament.

Any of the Class A Sport Bikes, especially the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R with it's perfect 100 speed or the Aprilia RSV Mille 1000R Factory with it's perfect 100 handling will easily win the tournament.

Imperial Palace Tournament[]

The loading screen

After winning the 34th city race, a cutscene will play where Tomoya gets angry at Toshi for his improper tuning, also telling the player that the player opened all tournaments. After the cutscene, all purple Tokyo races revert back to red-colored Optional City Races, and a new tournament opens, called the Imperial Palace Tournament.

This tournament, is exclusive for Class A vehicles only, and awards the game's best overall vehicle, the Pagani Zonda C-12 S. Due to the vehicle being one of the top performers of the game, owing to being a prize vehicle, the player can even take part in the tournament as early as their career progress has a Class A vehicle available, with having won the Cadillac Cien from the City Tournament (Detroit), the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R from the Original Riders Tournament or the purchasable Class A vehicles having been unlocked.

Epilogue[]

If the player won all Tokyo tournaments, the player unlocks the Tokyo Cop variant of the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34), as well as unlocking an ending scene where Toshi gets fired for improperly tuning an Infiniti G35.
