The Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34) was released in January 1999 as the successor to the Nissan Skyline GT-R (R33). It underwent a minor facelift in 2000 and ceased production in 2002.
In comparison with the R33, the R34 has a shorter wheelbase and smaller dimensions to improve handling. Like every other GT-R model that came after the R32 from 1989, the R34 is powered by a 'RB26DETT' 2.6 liter twin-turbo inline 6 engine and sends its power to all wheels.
The R34 was also equipped with a 5.8" LCD screen at the centre of the dashboard that displays live readings of engine and vehicle statistics including turbocharger pressure, as well as oil and coolant temperatures. The Nismo Multi-Function Display option (MFD) could be equipped at an extra cost, which included an additional lap timer and an increase in boost pressure measurement to 2 bar.
The V-Spec (Victory Specification) model was available with more performance enhancements including aerodynamic carbon-fiber extensions, an active limited-slip differential at the rear, and lower but also harder suspension. All V-Spec models carried a model-specific badge at the rear.

"That there is one of the most beautiful import tuners you can get - the Nissan Skyline." - Oscar
Description[]
Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition[]
In Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition, it appears as a Class C Tuner that is unlocked late in the game due to the limited club races allotted in each city (5 in San Diego and Atlanta and 3 in Detroit), as well as the fact that by the time Detroit is unlocked the player would already be using Class B Tuners with Level 1 upgrades, which is likely at par with level 2 Class C tuners, In-game, it is depicted as having rear-wheel burnouts, just like an RWD car, but performs as an all-wheel drive (AWD) car. It is the top C tuner, alongside the Lotus Elise if one looks at the stats. It is essentially the opposite of the Elise, because of it's stiffer handling and slightly higher top speed. Once won, however, most would probably use this over the Elise because it can be tricked out in the body shop unlike both Lotus which only feature wheel customization.
Although the 2006 Dodge Charger SRT-8 is classified as a Class B "Tuner", the Skyline can be considered more of a Class B Tuner due to it's expensive upgrade costs and mid-high level opposition, as well as it's somewhat late availability.
However, when maxed out, the R34 performs at par to a maxed Class B car, or a low-end Class A car, to compensate for it's overpriced upgrade costs, except it only has three nitrous due to being in Class C.
Compared to a level 1 Ducati SS1000, a maxed out Skyline is a better vehicle to use during their time in Detroit, until Class A vehicles have been unlocked, due to having three nitrous, as opposed to the aforementioned bike's one nitro shot, and that the SS1000 is a risky vehicle that takes at least 5 seconds to recover after a crash.
Midnight Club Los Angeles[]
The 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-SPEC is a B-class Group 3 Tuner that is unlocked later in the game. Prior to unlocking, this car is seen at the wager races at the Mack's Burger hangout or randomly in later street races. It is very fast and can match higher up cars (most, if not all, B-Class and A-Class cars) when driven properly. The Skyline's acceleration and handling for a B-class is only beaten by the Mazda RX-7, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, and the Audi S5, albeit by a minimal amount. With all level 1 performance parts, it will go up to 189 mph with no nitrous, but with it the Skyline has the potential to reach 200+. With all level 2 parts the skyline will hit at least 215 mph on the speedometer without nitrous. With nitrous, the Skyline can go at most 222/223mph.
On open freeways, fully upgraded and if NOS is engaged in 4th or 5th gear, the R34 can hit speed of over 280 mph. Only in Midnight Club: Los Angeles can the car be seen hitting over 280 mph as the speedometer is digital. In Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, the speedometer only reads up to 250 mph.
Three NPC characters drive a Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34), namely Dave, Fumiko and Rodney. Dave primarily spawns in the Skyline, and any other R34-driving opponent can only spawn if Dave is also present in the race.
Tokyo Police Variant[]
A police variant of the Skyline, based on the actual Tokyo Police's Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34) can be unlocked upon completing all Tokyo Challenge tournaments. The player can own the car for $0, however since it is a police car, it cannot be used in Career or Tokyo Challenge Mode. Despite its good handling stat, its tires have zero grip, and driving this car is a bit of a double-edged sword. It will slide and drift all over the place, making it very difficult to reliably corner without slamming into walls.
Unlike the Chevrolet Impala SS (Gen.7), this police variant can be unlocked even before it's racer counterpart, assuming the player won all Tokyo Challenge tournaments before winning all 13 Unbeatable Street Racers Club Races.
Performance[]
Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition[]
The Skyline GT-R is the strongest vehicle in Class C. It has not only incredible top speed and handling stats, but it also has very high acceleration. It is tied with the Toyota Supra for the highest top speed stat, is 2nd only to the Lotus Elise in acceleration, and is 2nd only to the Lotus Elise in handling, though it's top speed stats, are lower than the Dodge Charger SRT-8. Handling has satisfying amounts of grip even at very high speeds and is very responsive.
Despite having 327 HP and a weight of 1,560 kg, it's stock stats are listed to be less than the Lotus Elise 111R, though, due to the costly upgrades, the Skyline actually outperforms some Class B vehicles with upgrades and can compete with some exotic cars, and even outperforms the West Coast Choppers CFL and Mercedes-Benz CL 55 AMG, as well as significantly outperforming the Dodge Charger SRT-8 and the Lotus Elise 111R.
It has a top speed of 212mph and it gets there with relative ease. Due to having an extreme cost of $67,770 to max out, the Skyline can outperform all Class B cars and the slower-end of the exotics.
Upon being upgraded with maxed performance, the Skyline will typically encounter the lower-end of Exotics, namely, the Cadillac Cien, Gemballa Turbo Coupe, Lamborghini Diablo VT and the Gemballa F355, and may occasionally encounter Class B Sport Bikes.
The Class B Sport Bikes can also encounter similar opposition to the maxed out Skyline.

While the Skyline comes in Bayside Blue by default, when buying the Skyline (assuming they sold the one they won or completed all Unbeatable Street Racers races with a full garage), the player is presented the following color options. All colors are in the Gloss finish.
- Bayside Blue
- White
- Lightning Yellow
- Active Red
- Sonic Silver
- Black Pearl

- Atlanta, Georgia street Racers: Dre and Cheng or Vito and Naomi (whichever pair was not defeated yet)

- All 34 Tokyo Challenge races.
- All U.S. Championship Series races, though the player will probably be able to use the exotic supercars such as the McLaren F1 LM, Chrysler ME Four-Twelve or Pagani Zonda C-12 S.
Visual Customization[]
Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition[]
- For information on it's customization, see Body Shop/Body Upgrades (Tuners).
Midnight Club: Los Angeles[]
Widebody[]
Acquisition[]
In Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, the players must win all 13 races in the Unbeatable Street Racers car Club Races to win the Skyline. A copy of the car will be placed in the player's garage afterwards.
However, if the player’s garage is full, or already obtained a Skyline early beforehand through hacks or cheats, the player will be given $41,500 instead to compensate for the inability to store the prize car until they free up the slot for it.
The Tokyo Cop variant of the car is unlocked upon winning all tournaments in the Tokyo Challenge, though it is possible to unlock the police variant before the regular racer variant is unlocked.
In Midnight Club: Los Angeles, the Skyline is unlocked, along with all other Group 3 vehicles at Racer rank (8,060 Reputation Points) and can be purchased for $38,000 afterwards.
Background[]
The Skyline is one of the more famous cars, made famous by the movie 2 Fast 2 Furious. The Skyline has some more specialized parts that you normally don't see on cars, including the spoilers.
With the stock rear bumper, the rear fog light is on whenever the headlights are on. This is the only known car in the game to feature its rear fog lights, even though others have them (such as the Land Rover Range Rovers).
Trivia[]
- In Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, the Nissan Skyline GT-R appears as a regular tuner car, while in the Remix version, it's also available as a police car used in the city of Tokyo. The Tokyo Nissan Skyline cop car can be unlocked by completing all tournaments in Tokyo.
- In Midnight Club 2, the Torque JX resembles a modified Nissan Skyline GT-R. However, this vehicle handles much like a Chevrolet Corvette due to its extremely heavy mass.
- In Midnight Club 3, the Skyline has 6 gears. Whereas in Midnight Club L.A. Remix (PSP version), the Skyline has only 5 gears.
- The Nissan Skyline is the only playable vehicle in the series to appear in right-hand-drive. This is due to the car having never been sold in left-hand drive territories.
- The Los Angeles Police Department describes the Skyline as not being street legal through the quote "This thing is too fast there is no way it is street legal!".
- The Skyline GT-R V-Spec, if won from the Unbeatable Street Racers club in the original Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, the car's name will be set to SKYLINE GTR, but if won in the REMIX version, the car's name will be set to 02 SKYLINE (like how purchased Skylines are named).
- The player can unlock the Tokyo Police Skyline, even if the player has not unlocked/won the regular Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34), which can happen if the player completes all Tokyo Challenge Tournaments before completing the Unbeatable Street Racers club races.
- Despite being listed as a Class C car in Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, the Skyline's performance acts more like a mid/high-end Class B car due to the fact, that it's typical opponents will be driving a Cadillac Cien, Lamborghini Diablo VT, the class A Gemballas, or the Class B Sport Bikes.
- It's higher max upgrade cost of $67,770 makes it the most expensive vehicle to upgrade, owing to being a Class C without upgrades, and being a pseudo Class B+ Tuner with all upgrades installed, due to possibly encountering lower-end Exotics as opponents.
- Despite being listed as a Class C Tuner, the Skyline can be more considered of a true Class B Tuner, presumably due to the Class B tuners in-game being pseudo-muscles (exotic in the case of both Lotus cars) due to lacking body upgrades.
- The Skyline has full body customization, as with most other tuner cars, while the Class B "Tuners" do not have any body upgrades, and the Dodge Charger SRT-8 having Luxury body parts due to being part of the Chrysler LX platform.
- The Skyline's opposition is mainly the lower tier Exotics, as with most Class B vehicles, while the Charger receives Class B Tuners or Class C Choppers (which the Cadillac Sixteen and Mercedes-Benz CLS 55 AMG gets).
- The Lotus Elise 111R, despite having slightly higher acceleration and handling stats, actually has lower true stats than the Skyline, in which, the stats of it's Tokyo Cop variant are the actual maxed stats of the Skyline.
- The Skyline has an extremely high cost of $67,770 to max upgrade, while the Charger costs less than $20,000 to max out.
