A Pink Slip Race is a type of race available in Midnight Club: Los Angeles.
Description[]
In a Pink Slip Race, also known as "racing for pinks", the player competes one-on-one against another racer. The winner of the race is awarded the opponent's vehicle.
In Midnight Club Los Angeles, all of the available Pink Slip Races are introduced as missions and are run out of racing hangouts. Once the player has completed all of the available pink slip missions by winning all of the vehicles, no additional races are available, unless any of the player has not won back any of the vehicles they lost.
If the player loses a Pink Slip Race, either by failing to reach the finishing checkpoint first or damaging out, the player's own vehicle will be taken by their opponent, and must be won back through another race. When entering a hangout and selecting a Pink Slip Race, the player is given a choice of vehicles to race against which includes the regular pink slip vehicles as well as any the player has lost. The player can only store up to three of their own vehicles in the hangout, in which if the player bets again and loses, their oldest vehicle will be permanently lost.
Their game will automatically save, unless Autosave has been turned off, in which if the player reloads their file, their betted vehicle will be put at the hangout and they will be placed back in the vehicle they have owned the longest. The player cannot enter a Pink Slip race when they only have one vehicle.

- If the player loses a motorcycle in a pink slip, the opposing racer will be wearing a motorcycle helmet when they ride on the player's bike when racing to win it back.
- However, Lester is fully dressed in his motorcycle gear, due to also using a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 when driving a high-class car or as an online racer when riding a motorcycle.
- Losing, damaging out or quitting in 10 Carat Beatdown will not surrender the player's vehicle to the hangouts. This is due to not being classified as a hangout Pink Slip race.
- However, Jin can be raced for Pink Slips, provided the player has lost one of their vehicles to another pink slip racer.
- By disabling the autosave feature before entering a pink slip race, the player can avoid losing their vehicle by restarting the game after losing or damaging out.
- After winning a pink slip race, the vehicle they betted will be listed last in the Manage Vehicles screen.
- This is likely due to the possibility that autosaving the game will lose the player's vehicle upon losing the race.
