Pontiac (formally the Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors) was an American automobile manufacturer that appeared in that appears in Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition and Midnight Club: Los Angeles. The company was introduced as "companion make" for General Motors' more expensive of cars by Oakland Motor Car Company. However, Pontiac became more popular than Oakland and completely replaced Oakland by 1933.

In General Motors' hierarchy of its five divisions, Pontiac was slotted above Chevrolet but below Oldsmobile, Buick and Cadillac. It was also mainly sold in the United States, Canada and Mexico with some exports to the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and the Middle East. Pontiac's marketing strategy, starting with its 1959 models, was to sell the lifestyle of owning a Pontiac rather than the car itself. Pontiac was advertised as the "performance division" of GM with the tagline "we build excitement"; this was achieved by emphasizing its "Wide Track" design.

During the 2008 financial crash, General Motors was facing financial problems and restructuring efforts. To save their business, General Motors decided to discontinue Pontiac by the end of 2010, similar to Oldsmobile. The last Pontiac-badged cars were build in December 2009, with one final vehicle assembled in January 2010. Agreements with Pontiac dealers ended on October 31, 2010, which left General Motors to focus on it's remaining brands: Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC. [1]

Logo History[]

The Pontiac logo is an iconic logo as it shows how the brand's historical legacy could be shown in a modern and even futuristic way. The brand stayed loyal to its roots and heritage until the very end. The silver, red and white color scheme with black lettering is a traditional and timeless reflection of elegance, passion and power, reflected in the vehicles Pontiac sold to their customers. The latest logo was a stretched triangular crest, resembling an arrowhead with a delicate four-pointed star drawn at the top part. This symbol reflects the brand name given to it as tribute to the Native American tribe. Pontiac's logo has gone through 6 different designs.[2]
