Power-ups are a feature from Midnight Club II. It allows the player or opponents to use power-ups in races in a similar way to the Mario Kart series. There are 10 power-ups available in-game, though another additional 20 were cut from the game.
List of power-ups[]
Disruptor[]
Disruptor can be used on opponents and on the player. The Disruptor is used to give opponents and the player a distorted view. In Midnight Club 2, players should be careful with this power-up as this can give them seizures due to the extremely bright flashing and color changing screen. In Midnight Club Los Angeles, getting hit by it will fill the screen with light. Its icon is blue with a yellow aura.
Go[]
Go can be used on opponents and on the player. An opponent hit by this power-up will automatically accelerate, preventing them from using the brake, taking away the opponent's one of their available nitro slots. Its icon is green.
Ice[]
Ice can be used on opponents and on the player. An opponent hit by this power-up will make their car's handling as if they were driving on ice, thus making steering hard to control. Its icon is light blue.
Pulse[]
Pulse can be used by opponents and by the player. When this power-up is used, nearby opponents, traffic, and objects will be pushed away, including the player. Its icon is yellow
Stealth[]
Stealth can be used by opponents and by the player. This will make the opponent's or the player's car invisible for a few seconds. Its icon is white
Nitro[]
Nitro, unlike other power-ups, is not usable. It will add an additional nitro slot on the opponent's or player's car, regardless of the car's available nitro slots, and can have up to five nitro slots. For example, the Cocotte, which normally has only one nitro slot, will be able to have up to five nitro slots. Its icon is dark gray.
Quad[]
Quad can be used on opponents and on the player. If the player or an opponent hits the offending car, their car's damage will be inflicted four times. If the car is damaged enough, the car will explode. Its icon is purple
Shield[]
Shield can be used by opponents and by the player. Using this power-up will make the player or the opponent immune to damage of any sort. Its icon is blue.
Stop[]
Stop can be used on opponents and on the player. If the opponent or the player hits the offending car, the car's handbrake and the brakes will automatically activate, thus taking the car to a complete halt. Its icon is red.
Reverse Steering[]
Reverse Steering can be used on opponents and on the player. If the opponent or the player hits the offending car, their steering controls will be reversed. Its icon is orange.
Cut power-ups[]
Bouncy[]
The Bouncy power-up was probably used to make the car bounce. It was removed for unknown reasons.

The Decoy's power-up purpose is currently unknown. It was removed for unknown reasons.

Machine Gun[]
The Machine Gun power-up was used to hit opponents with a machine gun. Its code is still in the game, and can still be activated by using the starpower cheat. It was probably removed because it was too overpowered.
Mine[]
The Mine power-up was used to place mines and when an opponent hits one, their car explodes. Like the Machine Gun power-up, it was removed because it was possibly too overpowered.
Mine Special[]
The Mine Special power-up was similar to Mine.
Mirror[]
The Mirror power-up was probably used to make the player's view mirrored. It was possibly replaced by Reverse Steering.
Missile[]
The Missile power-up was used to hit opponents with missiles. Its code is still in the game, and can still be activated by using the leatherandlace cheat. It was probably removed because it was too overpowered.
Oil Slick[]
The Oil Slick power-up was used to deploy oil from the car. It was removed for unknown reasons.
Reverse Acceleration[]
The Reverse Acceleration power-up had a similar purpose as Reverse Steering, only that it reverses the player's acceleration and brake controls. It was removed for unknown reasons.
Reverse Both[]
The Reverse Both power-up is similar to Reverse Steering and Reverse Acceleration, only that it combines both power-ups into one. It was removed for unknown reasons.
Shrink[]
The Shrink power-up was used to make the car smaller. It was removed for unknown reasons.
Slow Down[]
The Slow Down power-up was the exact opposite of Go. It was used to slow down the car, thus making them unable to accelerate. It was removed because it had a similar purpose to Stop.
Swap[]
The Swap power-up was used to swap the player's car into a random opponent's car. It was removed for unknown reasons.

The Teleport power-up is self explanatory. It was used to teleport the player's car into a random place. It was removed for unknown reasons.
