Saleen (officially known as Saleen Automotive, Inc.) is an American manufacturer that appears in Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition and Midnight Club: Los Angeles. They also appear indirectly in Midnight Club II with the Veloci, a car that closely resembles the Saleen S7. Saleen is known for making specialty high-performance sport cars and automotive parts. They are headquartered in Corona, California, USA, they are owned by founder and former racer Steve Saleen and have only 80 employees.

The Saleen S7, introduced in 2000, was the company's flagship car. It was entirely built by Saleen and had a mid-engine design in a high-performance sports-car package. At present, it is the only car based on an original design and chassis.

Saleen currently manufacturers about 5 different models: the S302 (Ford Mustang-based), the Sportruck and Sportruck XR (Ford F-150-based), the Saleen Tesla GTX, the Saleen S1 and the S7 LM (limited-run successor to the S7).

In 2017, Saleen attempted to produce and sell vehicles in China by forming a partnership with the city of Rugao to form "Jiangsu Saleen Automotive Technology." Their only mass-produced model, the Maimai, was introduced in 2019 but only 27 were sold as of April 2021. The Maimai only had a maximum speed of 100 KM/H (62 MPH) and a new European driving cycle range of 305 KM (189.5 miles).

In May 2020, Saleen's former legal manager, Qiao Yudong, revealed that chairman Wang Xialon had lied about technology investment and embezzled a large amount of state capital by inflating costs of so-called "car-making technologies". Wang then fled to the United States, so the local court closed down two Saleen Auto factories, shut down Saleen Auto's Shanghai branch and froze equity of four companies held by Wang.[1]

Logo History[]

The Saleen logo has remained largely untouched since the company's inception in 1983. The logo consists of two elements: the red symbol and the wordmark. The red symbol has a combination of horizontal red stripes running across either a white or black background. There are smaller horizontal black stripes in between the red stripes; they have various lengths and are positioned in such a way to show a road or a letter "S". The wordmark has a custom sans serif typeface. The most unique letter is the letter "A" which looks like a triangle. [2]
