Scion was a brand of Toyota that appeared in Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition (REMIX). It was created in 2003 and was intended to appeal to younger customers by selling inexpensive, stylish and distinctive sport compact vehicles. Scion also used a simplified "pure price" sales concept, where each vehicle was offered in only a single trim with a non-negotiable price. However, they offered personalization through many dealer-installed options so customers could personalize their vehicles in their own way. The "Scion" name means the descendent of a family or heir and it refers to both Scion's cars and their owners. In order to target millennials, Scion relied mainly on guerilla and viral marketing techniques.
Scion first did a soft launch on June 2003 in the United States by placing their vehicles at selected Toyota dealerships in California. Afterwards, they expanded nationwide in 2004 and peaked in sales by 2006, selling 173,034 units. In 2010, Scion expanded to Canada, however Toyota's simple "pure price" concept became very unsustainable as their sales fell after the 2007-2008 financial crisis. Scion was abolished at the start of the 2017 model year in August 2016, where their vehicles were either rebranded to Toyota or discontinued.[1]

Logo History[]
The Scion logo has only had one design throughout its history, partly due to the company's short life. The logo has a futuristic emblem with a wordmark on it. The wordmark is enclosed inside a horizontal black rectangle. The font is executed in a unique custom sans-serif typeface with sleek bold lines with rounded angles and sharpness of the letter "S". The letter "S" almost looks like a lightning bolt symbol and is enclosed in a oval frame. The emblem was designed by California-based company Fresh Machine. [2]
