Slipstream Turbo[]
Slipstream Turbo, or SST, is a technique introduced in Midnight Club 2. Since then, it has appeared in every subsequent game.
Description[]
Slipstream Turbo, or SST as it is sometimes abbreviated, is a technique in where a driver will draft an opponent to gain a burst of speed mimicking a slingshot maneuver, albeit more arcade in nature. Unlike Nitrous, SST can be used as long as there is an opponent to draft.
Midnight Club II[]
Slipstream Turbo is introduced in Midnight Club 2 where it is unlocked after beating the second race against Hector. In order to perform SST, the player must draft behind an opponent until a meter connected to the speedometer is filled red and begins flashing and beeping. The closer the player is, the faster the meter fills. Pressing the Nitrous button will deplete the meter and give the car a speed boost. The speed boost, while significant is inferior to that of Nitrous.
As long as the player stays in the slipstream of a driver, the meter will never deplete, but once the player moves outside of the draft, they have a limited time to use it before it resets.
Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition[]
Slipstream Turbo returns for Midnight Club 3. Like most returning abilities, it is unlocked from the start and performs the same as it did in Midnight Club II.
Midnight Club: Los Angeles[]
Slipstream Turbo returns once again and functions the same way as it did in prior games.
