Toyota (officially Toyota Motor Corporation) is a Japanese automotive manufacturer that appears in Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition. It was founded by Kiichiro Toyota on August 28, 1937 and is now headquartered in Toyota City, Aichi, Japan. Toyota is one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world, producing about 10 million vehicles a year.[1]
History[]
Toyota was originally founded as a spinoff of Toyota Industries, a machine manufacturer founded by Sakichi Toyoda, father to Kiichiro. Both companies are now part of the "Toyota Group," one of the largest conglomerates in the world. While still part of Toyota Industries, Toyota created its first product, The Type A engine (1934). and it's first passenger car, The Toyota AA (1936).
After World War II ended, Toyota benefitted majorly from the Japan-US alliance, where they learned from American manufacturers and developed their own management philosophy (The Toyota Way) and lean manufacturing practice (Toyota Production System). This helped to transform their small company into an industry leader that was studied by many academics.
In the 1960s, Toyota used Japan's booming economy to their advantage by selling cars to a growing middle-class, leading to development of the Toyota Corolla. The Corolla became the world's all time best selling car.
Motorsports[]
Toyota is also heavily involved in many global motorsports with their performance brand, Toyota Gazoo Racing (GR). They also provide vehicles, engines and parts under both "Toyota" and "Lexus". In Europe, Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship, while their Finland-based Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT competes in the FIA World Rally Championship. In Africa, Toyota Gazoo Racing South Africa competes in the Dakar Rally.
Toyota has also won the highest class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 5 consecutive times from 2018-2022, competing with their Toyota TS050 Hybrid and Toyota GR010 Hybrid prototype cars. Toyota also competed in Formula One as Panasonic Toyota Racing from 2002 to 2009.
In the United States, Toyota Racing Development USA (TRD USA) competes in many major motorsports including NASCAR, NHRA, Indy Racing League and Formula Drift. In Japan, Toyota makes engines and other auto parts for different Japanese motorsports including Super Formula, Super GT, Formula 3 and Toyota Racing Series.

Logo History[]
The Toyota logo has gone through 9 different designs throughout its history. The symbolism of Toyota is different for clients in the East than for clients in the West. For Japanese and neighboring residents, the smaller oval symbolizes the client's heart, the 2nd oval is the heart of the Toyota car and the biggest ovals are the limitless possibilities offered by Toyota for both hearts. The intersections of lines also have meaning, showing the strong and mutually beneficial relations between business and customer. It is also theorized that the entire "TOYOTA" name is hidden within the logo itself. [2]
