"The overhead map is useful in plotting your route. Look to maximize speed while reducing distance." - In-game description
Triple Threat is the fourth career mode race in Midnight Club II.
Overview[]
The race starts near a neighborhood and ends directly near a monument.
Description[]
The player competes against Steven and five other racers. The first of its kind, this course is a simple layout involving unordered checkpoints, designed to help stimulate personal choice as to which path will lead to victory. Should the player maintain a reasonable speed, without crashing, taking any of the predetermined courses will ensure first place. Scripted traffic includes: an industrial truck and an SUV both turning one block north of the starting position, a limousine and another SUV slowly crossing the front of a large shopping center, and a semi-truck, coupled with a trailer, swerving harshly to the left right before the finish line. The race ends directly on a strange monument, which contains a squared foundation. Upon beating the rest of Steven's crew, he will reluctantly cough up his Emu.
Opponents[]
- Billie (Torrida)
- Karla (Emu)
- Marc (Torrida)
- Steven (Emu)
- Stoabs (Emu)
- Troy (Torrida)
Trivia[]
- There are two variations of this race stored in the game files named "lachrisbeta_steven_checkpoint_two_iteration_two.rac" and "lachrisbeta_steven_checkpoint_two_original.rac". Both versions were noticeably longer, had a different race layout, and slightly more difficult. The race was changed to a more shorter version due to it being too difficult for players new to Midnight Club II. Also, there was a flag girl at the race's start.
