Icon for Tuner cars in Midnight Club 3

A Tuner is a car that is built for the purpose of being customized.

Tuners are featured in the Midnight Club games. In Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, actual Tuners are only present in Class D and C, while Class B Tuners (plus one in Class C) were improperly classed due to their lack of body customization.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition[]

In Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, the Tuner Class is one of the first few classes the player is introduced to. The player can buy one of four tuner cars at the start of the game. The Unbeatable Street Racers club, is the club that specializes in driving Tuner Cars, which can be challenged after defeating Vanessa in her first challenge. Tuner cars use the Zone special ability. Completing all 13 races in the Unbeatable Street Racers Club rewards the player with the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34).

Despite not having any body kits, and not being Tuners, the Class B Sport Cars are classified in-game as Tuners.

Class D[]

Class C[]

The Lotus Elise 111R, despite not having any Body Upgrades and being more of a Class C Exotic was put into the Tuner Class.

Class B[]

Despite having no body kit options in the Body Shop, being limited to wheel customization, all of the following cars were put into the Tuner class instead of the Exotic or Muscle Cars class, while the Dodge Charger SRT-8 uses the Luxury cars body upgrades set instead due to being part of the Chrysler LX platform, which is shared with the Dodge Magnum R/T and Chrysler 300C.

Unlike Class D and C Tuners, the Class B Tuners also lack transmission upgrades, and two engine components cannot be upgraded. They also cannot have Airbags equipped.

Trivia[]

  • When Tuners leave the garage, a similar engine sound to E_350Z, which is used by a stock Nissan 350Z, Toyota Supra or Mitsubishi Eclipse (3rd generation) plays.
  • Despite being classified as Import Tuners, the Lotus Elise 111R and all Class B Tuners are technically a de facto Exotics/Concept, as they do not have any body kits available.
    • The Dodge Charger SRT-8, despite being described as a new world Muscle Car, is put into the Tuner Class, but uses the Luxury Cars body part set.
  • While the Dodge Charger SRT-8 is listed as a Class B Tuner, it's opponent selections are at par with the high-end Class D cars.
  • Despite being listed as a Class C Tuner, the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34) can be considered more of a Class B Tuner, due to the following reasons:
    • The Skyline is a common opponent in Unbeatable Street Racers Club Races, while all other Class C Tuners become very rare spawns if done during or after the U.S. Championship Series.
    • This is likely due to it's higher upgrade costs, in which, the nitrous upgrade matches that of the Exotics.
    • Despite being listed with lower stats than the Lotus Elise 111R, the Skyline outperforms the Elise on all attributes.
